Independent play at forest school. —often called child-led free play—is the absolute beating heart of the Forest School ethos. Instead of adults setting strict agendas, children are provided with the time, space, and a few open-ended resources (like sticks, ropes, and mud) to decide exactly what, how, and with whom they want to play. We set aside time for free play at all our forest school sessions.
